While Time Center and Timecards are separate entities, managing their permissions fall under the same umbrella. Learn the difference between Time Center and Timecards.
β
Managing Time permissions effectively enables you to control and regulate all time-related features. In SiteMax, assigning appropriate permissions is important for a seamless workflow. To ensure smooth operations, it's essential to understand the three permissions associated with time, which are:
1. Time entries (self)
In the "Time entries (self)" permission, different options provide specific abilities for managing your timecards. Each option represents a specific set of permissions:
View π | By selecting the "View π" option, you gain the ability to view only your own entries on Timecards. This allows you to see the details and information associated with your recorded time. |
Create β | Choosing the "Create β" option grants you the ability to check-in and check-out. This enables you to mark your start and end times accurately, ensuring your time is recorded properly. |
Edit β | When "Edit β" is selected, you gain the power to modify your existing entries and create manual entries for yourself. This flexibility allows you to make adjustments to your recorded time, such as correcting any errors or adding additional information as needed. |
Manage βοΈ | If you select the "Manage βοΈ" option, you gain the ability to delete your time entries. This option provides you with control over removing any unnecessary or incorrect entries from your timecards. |
2. Timecards
In the "Timecards" permission, the selected options determine your access and abilities related to viewing, creating, editing, and managing time entries for Projects. Each option represents a specific set of permissions:
View π | By selecting the "View π" option, you gain the ability to view all time entries for Projects. This allows you to see the recorded time for various tasks and activities associated with the Projects. |
Create β | Choosing the "Create β" option, you get the ability to create time entries for assigned users within Projects. This means you can log and record time spent on specific tasks or assignments related to the Projects. |
Edit β | When "Edit β" is selected, it gives you the ability to modify and remove time entries for assigned users within Projects. You can make changes to existing time entries, such as correcting any inaccuracies or removing entries if necessary. |
Manage βοΈ | If you select the "Manage βοΈ" option, this enables you to review and authorize time entries submitted by assigned users, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project timelines. Additionally, you can access reports that provide insights and analytics related to time usage within the project. |
Note: Time Entries (self) and Timecards permissions are contradictory to each other. When granting permissions, you will only want to enable Create, Edit, & Manage permissions for one or the other.
3. Timecenter
In the "Timecenter" permission, the selected options determine your access and abilities related to viewing, creating, editing, and managing time entries in the Timecenter. Each option represents a specific set of permissions:
View π | By selecting the "View π" option, it allows you to view all time entries in the Timecenter. This grants you access to see the recorded time entries for various labor or equipment usage. |
Create β | Choosing the "Create β" option, gives you the ability to add time entries for labor or equipment for anyone in the Timecenter. This means you can log and record time spent by individuals or equipment for specific activities or tasks. |
Edit β | When "Edit β" is selected, this option gives you the capability to edit any time entry in the Timecenter. You can make changes to existing time entries, such as modifying the duration, updating descriptions, or correcting any inaccuracies. |
Manage βοΈ | If you select the "Manage βοΈ" option, you get the ability to delete time entries, change their status (e.g., approve, reject), and lock periods to prevent further modifications. |
It's important to note that for each permission, you can select multiple options simultaneously, combining the corresponding abilities. However, if any of the options are unselected, the corresponding ability associated with that particular option will be revoked, limiting your access and capabilities accordingly. That is why it's crucial to consider which permissions align with your specific needs and responsibilities.
βYour system administrator decides on the permissions and access that are given to you. The team can assist in understanding functionalities and behavior but cannot grant access on the system administrator's behalf to individual users.β
