Permissions
Always remember to ensure the correct people have the appropriate permissions to access your company and project data. This can be done per individual or by applying Permission Templates.
To add Material Logs in the Company workflow, users will need Create permissions for Timecenter and/or Materials
To add Material Logs in the Project workflow, users will need Create permissions for Timecards and/or Project Materials
Whether using the Project or Company Inventory workflow, there are multiple ways you can quickly and easily keep track of your Materials using Material Logs.
Depending on how you like to use your system, you might want to log your materials use within the Time modules (either Time Center or Timecards), or within your Project or Company Materials modules. This article will take you step-by-step through logging materials under either of our Material Inventory Workflows.
Company Inventory Workflow

Your Company Inventory Workflow allows you to view and manage all company materials. When logging materials for a project, you can choose from all materials in your inventory. When using the Company Inventory Workflow, you have the option of adding Material logs in either your Time Center module, or your Materials module in the main dashboard.
Time Center Module

Our Time Center is designed to track the duration of labour and equipment. We give the ability to add materials logs, and track and report on Labour (People), Equipment and Materials in the same interface.
With Materials, we track the quantity and look at the value instead of the hourly rate, whereas for labour and equipment, we track the duration.
When tracking time, you can let your users add materials with their time tracking. This allows you to attribute materials usage both to the user and the project.
To add a log for materials in the Time Center module, you'll want to be in the Material tab.
Click on the blue "+ Add Material Log" button at the top of your screen
A new screen will appear, allowing you to select the Project you want to add your Materials to, along with the Material(s) and quantities - because you are using the Company Inventory workflow, you will be allowed to select from ALL materials in your inventory.
Click "Save" to record your log(s)
Your log(s) will appear in the Material tab screen
Note; Material logs can easily be reversed.
To do this, select the logs you want to remove by checking the box(es) beside them.
Under the Actions menu, select "Move to Company Inventory"
Click "OK" to confirm
Your log(s) will no longer appear in your Material tab
Materials Module
Materials Module
The Materials module is where you can manage your Material inventory. Here, you can add new materials, edit existing ones, or in this case, add material logs to certain projects.
To add a log to a project, select the material by checking the box beside the Material column and click on the Actions dropdown. Select "Add log to Project"
A new screen will appear where you can select the Project to which you want to add your Materials, as well as the quantities for the materials you are logging. You can add more materials if needed by clicking "+ Add a Material"
Click "Save" to record your new log(s)
Your log(s) will appear in the Material tab of your Time Center

The Project Inventory Workflow allows you to track your materials at the project level. When logging materials, you will see just the materials assigned to your selected project. Logging materials can be done in your Project's Timecards module or within its Materials module

Our timecards module is designed to track the duration of labour and equipment. We give the ability to add materials logs, track and report on Labour (People), Equipment and Materials in the same interface.

To add a Materials log in Timecards, be sure you are in the Material tab within your Project's Timecards module.

A new screen will appear, allowing you to select the material and quantity you wish to log for your project. Click "+ Add a Material" to add more materials
Click "Save" to log your materials
You'll now see the material logged in the Material tab
Note; Material logs can easily be reversed.

Under the Actions menu, select "Move to Project Inventory"
Click "OK" to confirm
Your Material Log will no longer appear in the Material tab.

The Materials module is where you can manage your Material inventory. Here, you can add new materials, edit existing ones, or in this case, add material logs to your project
To start, open the Material Logs tab within the Materials module in your selected project
Click the blue "+ Add Material Log" button at the top of the screen
A new window will appear, allowing you to select the material(s) and quantity you wish to log - Note; because you are in the Project Inventory Workflow, you will only be able to select from material added to the project
Click "Save" to record your log
Note: At any time, you can edit the quantity of your material log. Simply select the log you wish to edit and enter the corrected quantity in the field provided.
Move back into Project Inventory
You can always remove logs and place your inventory back into your Project.
To do this, select the materials you want to return back into the inventory by checking the boxes beside each one.
Under the Actions menu, select "Move to Project Inventory"
Click "OK" to confirm
