Adding a Punch Item

To effectively manage and track punch items on your projects, SiteMax provides a straightforward process for adding punch items. This guide will walk you through the steps to add a punch item in SiteMax.

Begin by selecting a project and clicking the "Punch List" module from the sidebar menu.

  1. Within the Punch Lists section, you will see a list of existing punch items.

  2. Click on the "Add Punch Item" button

Filling in Punch Item Details: A blank punch list item will have several fields that need to be filled out:

  • Drawing: Add any drawings necessary for your Punch Item. Note; View and choose the drawing revision you wish to include in the Punch Item.

  • Trade Company: Assigned Trade/Subcontractor (vendor contact). Learn more. Note; Copy your Punch Item to another Trade.

  • Distribution (Contacts/Users): Choose the distribution list from both your list of Contacts and Users to send your Punch Item.

4. Once you have filled in the necessary details, click on the save or submit button to create the punch item.

5. The punch item will be added to the project's punch list, and relevant stakeholders will be notified of the assignment.

Hot Tip: You can add mark ups to any attachments by clicking on them within the Punch Item

This will take you to a new screen where you can add all of your mark ups

Copy your Punch Items

Creating a new Punch Item for every issue or deficiency can be daunting, so we have designed a couple of workflows to make this easier for you! Duplicate to Trade and Add From Existing are two actions that you can use that will prevent you from having to create an entirely new Punch Item each time, especially when the details are similar.

Duplicate to Trade

Use the Duplicate to Trade feature when you have a Punch Item with the same issue/deficiency but want to send it to a different trade.

  1. Select an already complete Punch Item or during the creation of a new one

  2. Select "Duplicate to Trade" and choose the new trade company to assign your copied Punch Item to.

  3. All of the details (excluding drawings) will be carried over to the new Punch Item

Add from Existing

Using the Add from Existing feature allows you to make whatever adjustments necessary to a copied Punch Item.

  1. From your project's Punch List page, click on the Actions dropdown

  2. Select "Add From Existing"

3. A new pop up will open allowing you to select from a dropdown of your Punch Items. Select the Punch Item you wish to copy and click on "Copy"

4. Your selected Punch Item copy will appear and you can make any edits you wish.

Note: When using the Duplicate to Trade and/or Add From Existing functions, any drawings originally included will not carry over to the copied Punch Item.

Any and all attachments added to the original Punch Item, however, will carry over.
